Located in City of Targu Mures, Romania, AZOMUREŞ is one of the largest chemical fertilizer and melamine producers in Central/South Eastern Europe with its total production capacity reaching upto 2 million tons per annum.

The Company was privatized as result of a international tender process completed in August 1998. Today, a group of investors, who are physically active in entire operational and commercial managements of the Company, control 76% of AZOMUREŞ ownership, through USA based investment vehicles.

the Company has a very wide product portfolio including;
  • Ammonia
  • Nitric acid
  • Nitrate fertilizers (ammonium nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate, stabilized ammonium nitrate, calcium nitrate)
  • Urea
  • UAN (urea-ammonium-nitrate) solution liquid fertilizers
  • numerous formulations of NPK compound fertilizers
  • fully soluble calcium nitrate
  • fully soluble compound fertilizers
  • and melamine.

All plants at AZOMUREŞ complex bear signatures of prestigious names in technology and equipment supplies of the world such as, but not limited to, Kellogg/USA (ammonia plants), DDR/Germany (nitric acid plants), Grand Paroisse/France (nitric acid and ammonium nitrate plants) Kaltenbach Thuring/France (nitrate fertilizer plants), GIAP-Didier (nitrate fertilizers plants) Stamicarbon/UK-Holland (urea), Norsk Hydro (today Yara)/Norway (complex fertilizers plant), Linde/Germany (air separation), Montedison/Italy (melamine) etc.

Typically, major part of AZOMUREŞ production is exported to all world markets, in some period reaching over 60 countries, including USA, EU, other European countries and Turkey, China, East Africa etc. In addition to co-operating with world’s leading fertilizer traders such as Transammonia, Helm and Ameropa, AZOMUREŞ management also has a very strong customer basis in all world consumption centers for smooth sale of entire quantities allocated for export. In addition to Transylvanian part of Romania, AZOMUREŞ has extremely advantageous geographical position for supplies into Agricultural parts of Eastern Hungarian market, being one of the leading fertilizer consuming agricultural centers of the Central/Eastern European area, with its very high levels of fertilizer consumption characteristic.

Nokta Investment Holding A.Ş. assigned Azomures S.A shares to another European company in year 2012.
